Although Hill Country gets all the attention for Texas wine, a little gem lies in the Fort Davis area you should know about: Chateau Wright. Vines at the Blue Mountain Trail Vineyard were planted in 2012, and after some challenges along the way, the Jack Rabbit Winery at Chateau Wright is finally producing wine that features fruits grown right on this property.
This spring we packed up our rugged rig with everything needed for two nights away and headed south to Lost Maples State Natural Area. Provisions for the trip included lots of food, Rambler sparkling water, plenty of s’more supplies, coffee beans from Red Sand Roastery in Seminole, Texas, and a healthy dose of adventure attitude.

Located 100 miles Southeast of Amarillo, Caprock Canyons spans over 15,000 acres, is home to more than 90 miles of trails, and is inhabited by many different forms of wildlife.
Just about an hour away from DFW, Cleburne State Park is perfect for a single day trip, or a weekend getaway. With 13 miles of heavily forested trails there is no shortage of sights to see here, and there are options for all levels of age and skill. And did I mention there’s a waterfall?
