We are Brave Family Adventures and we LOVE living in the great state of Texas! One of our most favorite family trips was a 15-day road trip through our beautiful state. On this trip we saw 13 State Parks, 1 National Recreation Area - Amistad, and 1 National Park - Big Bend. Our boys slid down waterfalls, swam in crystal clear rivers, and hiked through deep canyons. We started and ended where we live in Rockwall (near Dallas) but this trip can start in any corner of the state!
I’m excited to share some highlights our family weekend trip to Boerne, TX, just 45 minutes north of San Antonio. It’s an amazing Texas town fueled by German roots. Whether you’re just wanting to walk along the beautiful Cibolo Trail, explore a caves, or just kick back to enjoy a local brew, Boerne has it all and more!
If you want to combine a trip to pick fresh flowers and exploring a State Park, this is your itinerary for a family road trip. Pilot Point is conveniently located approximately 2.5 hours north of Waco, and about 1 hour & 15 minutes north of DFW. It makes a fun, easy day trip with kids & provides some beautiful photo opportunities.
This spring we packed up our rugged rig with everything needed for two nights away and headed south to Lost Maples State Natural Area. Provisions for the trip included lots of food, Rambler sparkling water, plenty of s’more supplies, coffee beans from Red Sand Roastery in Seminole, Texas, and a healthy dose of adventure attitude.
While most Texans are familiar with the beauty and vastness of the Palo Duro Canyon, what many people do not know is that there is a smaller, but just as impressive, canyon worth exploring in the Texas Panhandle. Located 100 miles Southeast of Amarillo, Caprock Canyons spans over 15,000 acres, is home to more than 90 miles of trails, and is inhabited by many different forms of wildlife.
