If you want to combine a trip to pick fresh flowers and exploring a State Park, this is your itinerary for a family road trip. Pilot Point is conveniently located approximately 2.5 hours north of Waco, and about 1 hour & 15 minutes north of DFW. It makes a fun, easy day trip with kids & provides some beautiful photo opportunities.
Most people have heard of the Grand Canyon. However, the second largest canyon in the United States lies in the heart of the Texas Panhandle. It's called The Palo Duro Canyon. It's just five hours from our home in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Blue hole park is a scenic lagoon by the limestone bluffs along the San Gabriel River. The Park is open from 5 AM to 10 PM and it is free to enter. The Park offers walking trails, and spots for fishing. There are some picnic areas, and restrooms are well maintained.
This spring we packed up our rugged rig with everything needed for two nights away and headed south to Lost Maples State Natural Area. Provisions for the trip included lots of food, Rambler sparkling water, plenty of s’more supplies, coffee beans from Red Sand Roastery in Seminole, Texas, and a healthy dose of adventure attitude.
